Behold, I am making all things new.”

It’s coming, new heavens and a new earth. And given the current state of affairs globally, our redemption “draweth nigh.” It must be. The planet and the people can’t take much more of this senseless lunacy. Never, I mean never in a million years would I have imagined that I would personally witness the kind of destructive chaos pitting men in such brutality against one another.

Jesus nailed it. “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.” (Matt. 24:12) “Wax cold” in your King James. No surprises here, not if we believe the Master. Part of the assurance He left us with stands rock solid. “In this world your gonna have serious trouble.” Make book on it.1 Yet He would calm the waters. “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.” (John 16:33) Peace, really?

Lock in on this. We make our beds in a world that would otherwise insist on smooth sailing before peace can happen. People and circumstances, guys, they’ve got to line up in ways you and I comfortably give our check of approval to before sleep comes. Not with Jesus. He was out cold in the bow of a crude fishing craft that all but capsized. That same Jesus is our peace, if we’ll yield.  Rest is the word. He’s all we need, our complete package. Color that grace.

COVID-19 has radically altered the complexion of things, which is why Hook Ministries has started a YouTube channel.2 Oh, it’s strange talking to a camera, but we’ve been able to get into a number of prisons this way while expanding our overseas outreach. We’ll see where God takes things.

Sometime this fall Dan has a book hitting the streets. Sifted Like Wheat takes a gut-level look at every believer’s universal need for the dismantling of our fleshly self-efforts at doing life, at serving Jesus. The cross secures us in the hope of living from, rather than for Him—knowing Christ as our Life.

We’ll keep you posted.
